Most small panels can only charge something that's plugged in while the sun is out. The BioLite SolarPanel 5+ has a small 3,200 mAh battery built in. It can store energy at midday and give it back after dark, without a separate power bank.

Tier: mid. A good fit for slow-paced trips with lots of sun.

Specs (per the listing and BioLite)

Who it's for

It suits hikers who want a single solar device that also stores power, such as hammock campers parked at a lake for a day. It also suits anyone keeping a headlamp and messenger charged on a long, open route.

Limits

The panel is only 5 W, so filling even the small internal battery takes many hours of good sun. The battery is about a third of a typical 10,000 mAh bank. For pure stored power per ounce, a bank like the BioLite Charge 40 PD carries more.
