Tier: premium. An ultralight pack for experienced hikers.
The Exos is Osprey's long-running answer for hikers who've cut their base weight but still want a real frame and a ventilated back. The current version uses 100% recycled 100D high-tenacity nylon, bluesign approved, with a DWR treatment made without PFAS.
Key specs (from the listing)
- Volume: 58 L
- Weight: about 2.9 lb for the listed size
- AirSpeed suspension with an injection-molded ladder that gives 4 in of torso adjustment
- Two hipbelt pockets and an internal hydration sleeve with a center hose port
- A removable floating lid with top and under-lid zip pockets, plus an integrated FlapJacket cover for going lidless
- Stow-on-the-Go trekking pole attachment
Who it's for
Thru-hikers and long-weekend hikers who carry a moderate load. Osprey also sells an Extended Fit version with a hipbelt that fits up to 70-inch hips, longer shoulder straps and repositioned pockets.
Trade-offs
Lighter padding than a traditional pack. One reviewer says the hip pockets are on the small side. With heavy food or water carries, a more supportive pack like the Gregory Zulu 55 may feel better.
Women's version: the Osprey Eja 58.
