Tier: budget. A good beginner pick.
The TIKKINA is Petzl's entry-level headlamp, designed to be easy to use with nothing to figure out.
- 300 lumens, with a wide beam
- 3 AAA batteries included
- Compatible with Petzl's optional CORE rechargeable battery
- Three lighting modes
- 92 g
- IPX4 weather resistance
Why it's popular: it's simple, light enough, and uses batteries you can buy almost anywhere. It also gives you a path to rechargeable later with the CORE battery.
Trade-offs: 300 lumens with a wide beam is fine for camp chores and trail walking, but limited for night hiking on technical terrain. Some versions lack a red light, so check the listing if that matters to you.
Step up: the Petzl ACTIK CORE.
