The MiniMo is the Jetboil for people who actually cook. Most Jetboils are tuned to boil water as fast as possible. The MiniMo adds a regulator and a real simmer control, so you can make rice, pasta, or a sauce without scorching the pot.
Tier: premium. Worth it if you cook more than you rehydrate.
Key specs (per Jetboil and the listing)
- Weight: 14.6 oz (415 g)
- Boil time: about 2 minutes 15 seconds per 0.5 L, per Jetboil
- Cup: 1.0 L, short and wide, with metal handles
- Ignition: push-button
- Regulator: yes, with heat control from simmer to full boil. Jetboil says it performs consistently down to 20°F (-6°C).
- Packing: the burner stores sideways in the cup to save space
What makes it different
The shape matters. A short, wide cup lets you eat straight from it with a normal spoon, which the tall Flash cup doesn't really allow. The regulator helps on cold mornings, when unregulated stoves lose power as the canister cools.
Downsides
- It's the heaviest of the personal Jetboils covered here.
- It boils slightly slower than the Flash.
- You pay a premium for the simmer control. If you never use it, the Flash is the better deal.
Pairs well with
The Summit Skillet if you want to fry eggs or pancakes. Jetboil's site lists which skillet fits which stove, so check before you buy.
